How to Apply
HERIF requires all applicants to complete an online Application form and submit a one-page Letter of Inquiry, and a Program Budget. The letter of inquiry should include a brief description of the program or project and the outcomes you hope to achieve, an explanation of the need for the program or project, and a budget including expenses and anticipated sources of support.
Those requests that fit within our funding priorities and program requirements may be invited to speak directly with HERIF staff to receive preliminary feedback, discuss your goals, needs, and address any questions you may have.
Upon approval of a final application, you will receive an official Granting Letter. If your grant application is not successful, you will still receive an email notification informing you of the decision. Please note that this does not prevent you from reapplying in the future.
Letter of Inquiry
Your letter of inquiry should briefly include an overview of your healthcare project, the issue, goals, and target population. Clearly articulate the need, supported by statistics, research findings, or anecdotes. Explain the project's alignment with HERIF’s mission and funding priorities. Highlight planned activities, services, and interventions, along with a timeline and implementation details. Specify the project team and success measurement methods. Good luck with your application!
Program-Budget
When preparing your Program-Budget ensure it accurately reflects the financial aspects of your healthcare project. Provide a detailed breakdown of anticipated expenses, including personnel, supplies, equipment, training, and other relevant costs. Be transparent and specific, accounting for all the necessary resources to implement your project successfully. If you have secured or plan to secure matching funds or in-kind contributions, clearly indicate them. Additionally, consider including a brief narrative that explains the budget's components and how they align with the project activities and goals. To provide a comprehensive overview, include a Spending Timeline that outlines the period over which the requested funds will be deployed. This timeline will help stakeholders understand the financial progression of your project and its budgetary needs. Double-check for accuracy, clarity, and consistency in your budget calculations. We encourage you to present a well-organized and realistic budget that demonstrates sound financial management and ensures the effective utilization of grant funds.
*Please note a Spreadsheet file showing your Spending Timeline is preferred (or similar.)!
